BRATISLAVA BALL SEASON

The ball season in Bratislava, the Slovak capital, is here! As every year, the ball season begins with a prestigious Opera Ball in the historic Slovak National Theatre building. The theatre, built in 1886 by Viennese architects Fellner and Helmer, is a Bratislava landmark. Well attended by leading personalities from the Slovak political, cultural and business life, the Opera Ball takes place on January 7, 2012 for the twelfth time.  

Numerous balls organized by professional societies, regional associations and business companies follow. As every year, the "expatriots" from the Zahorie, Zemplin and Orava regions organize their balls. The Medical Ball, this year organized in the 91th season, is the oldest one in Bratislava.

The official end of the ball season in the city is the Bratislava Ball, hosted by the Municipality of Bratislava, taking place at the Pavol Orszagh Hviezdoslav Theatre on February 18, 2012. The highlight of the evening is awarding the Bratislava Bilberry Prize to personalities that contributed through their work to the city of Bratislava.
